Gloria Patri Interdisciplinary Conference Series, 2010 Theme

Join scholars from around the world in a collaborative research project addressing the PROBLEM OF EVIL.

Boethius, in The Consolation of Philosophy, asked, "'If God exists, whence comes Evil? If He does not exist, whence comes Good?' Is it true that Evil 'in reality' possesses no Being? If divine Providence dominates history, what about human freedom?" Questions such as those posed by Boethius have plagued humanity throughout its existence and each generation must reassess the answers to those questions in light of its own experiences.

The Gloria Patri would like to invite scholars from across the disciplines to join in a collaborative research project that will explore the problem of evil and its relationship to the character of God.

The Gloria Patri will pursue this task through interactive dialogue (see "Join the Discussion"), the collection and publication of the best research materials on the problem of evil generally and to its relation to the character of God in particular (see below, "Collaborative Research").

Scholars are also invited to present proposals for next year's conference (September 17-19, 2010), which will be held in Friedensau, Germany (see below, "Call to Papers").

Finally, scholars are invited to encourage student research through the production of scholarly posters (see below, "Call to Papers").
